Babà Cesare

Sadhu (Hindu ascetic) Baba Cesare (1946-2018) who in the 1970s went from Italy to India in search of spirituality and lived there until the end of his days (in his last years - in Hampi, Karnataka). Baba Cesare received initiations from a number of gurus, the last guru he calls Mahalinga Swami in his book. Baba considered himself to be part of the "Mahalinga family" (his words). By family, he apparently means the parampara (and sangha) of this guru. In the photo, you can see that Baba is wearing an ishta-linga box around his neck, a silver case with a personal shivalingam worn by representatives of the Vira-Shaiva (Lingayat) sampradaya (Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu). But the term Vira Shaiva is not found in the book.
